Lewis Hamilton has had a difficult start to the new Formula 1 season but is confident of taking a step forward at Albert Park this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton insisted that Mercedes have ” fantastic” car this season as the team looks to unlock more potential in Australia.
Mercedes has struggled over the past two seasons and has fallen back-to-back since the introduction of new technical rules in 2022.
Hamilton has not won a race with the current generation car, with the last win coming at the penultimate race of the 2021 campaign in Saudi Arabia.
The seven-time world champion described last year’s W14 machine as the “bad sister”. Its 2022 predecessor in the Netflix docuseries Drive To Survive.
Hamilton, however, took a much more optimistic view of the W15, claiming, “It’s definitely not a bad sister or anything like that,” Hamilton said.”I think , that we have a great car, it has a lot of potential and I don’t think we have maximized it now.”
Hamilton hopes Melbourne will be a “step up”Hamilton has not had a happy start to the new season , finishing seventh in Bahrain and ninth in Saudi Arabia.
