The team announced they have signed two-way center Neemias Queta to a contract. Details of the contract were not disclosed per team policy but a league source told MassLive that the agreement is for multiple years.Queta joined the Celtics after the Kings waived him ahead of training camp following their signing of JaVale McGee. The seven-footer made a surprise impact with Boston particularly in the early season when providing some big man depth amid the team’s injury woes. He appeared in 26 games with Boston, posting career-highs across the board averaging 4.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 11.4 minutes per game. The Portuguese big man would not have been eligible for the playoffs on a two-way contract so the Celtics give themselves some added center depth in the postseason by bringing him aboard. He was the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and spent two season with the Sacramento Kings before landing with Boston this summer.Queta has also been a strong contributor with the Maine Celtics in their run to the G-League Finals this year posting 14.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists over eight contests. He also posted a double-double (16 points, 19 rebounds) in a win over the Long Island Nets on Sunday. Maine opens up the G-League Finals against Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. With Boston expected to rest some regulars during the final week of the regular season, Queta could see some regular playing time this week once the Maine Celtics’ playoff run is over.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
