City AM, a London business newspaper, cited anonymous sources as saying McIlroy was close to an $850 million deal to move to LIV Golf, but the publication did not say how its sources knew. This sparked speculation and innuendo online.McIlroy managed to close it down upon arriving at the RBC Heritage. “I don’t know how it all starts, to be honest,” McIlroy told Golf Channel from Harbor Town. “I was never offered a LIV number and I never thought about switching to LIV. I think it’s become clear over the last few years that I didn’t think it was anything special for me.The last time he said it was last month at Bay Hill.McIlroy said he won’t criticize players who move to LIV if they think it’s what’s best for them. He also reiterated how important it is for the top players to come together more often than the big four. And he thinks some PGA Tour players are still considering a Saudi-funded tour. It’s not for him.

“I plan on playing the rest of my career on the PGA Tour,” he said. He wasn’t the only high-profile LIV Golf associate: Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman spent three days at the Masters and made a ubiquitous presence. Norman, who bought a ticket to watch like the rest of the spectators — presumably all 104 tickets available for LIV’s Masters 13 players were already filled — was delighted with the reception he received.

On Instagram, Norman thanked “hundreds, if not thousands, of people” for what he called “unanimous support.””My right hand is hurting from shaking all of your hands and hugging so many of you,” Norman wrote. Nelly Korda has a multiple major win on the line at this week’s Chevron Championship, where she will try to join Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only women to win five consecutive tournaments on the LPGA Tour. The code is more like the sun than Lopez, not just because it becomes the first Mayon of the LPGA year five times in a row. There was also a big gap.

Sorenstam won the Japan Tournament, the bye week and two ADT Championships at the end of the 2004 season. She missed the 2005 season opener in Hawaii, then played in three tournaments on the schedule, culminating in a win at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Korda won the Drive On Championship in Bradenton, Fla., in January, then took a seven-week break to travel across Asia. She returned to win at the Los Angeles-Phoenix Regional and added a fourth straight victory at the Las Vegas Match Play.

Lopez won five straight tournaments in a six-week span in 1978. She opened with three wins in three weeks, missed the Peter Jackson Classic in Canada, then won the LPGA Championship and the following week in New York. Korda will be the first player to win four consecutive tournaments in four weeks since Lorena Ochoa won four straight tournaments by seven, five, 11 and three strokes.

She took a week off and finished tied for fifth at Cedar Ridge in Tulsa, Oklahoma, five strokes behind the leader.
