Scottie Scheffler’s caddie has earned a ridiculous amount of prize money this year.
Ted Scott, who has been Scheffler’s caddie since the start of the 2022 season, has earned prize money thanks to the world No. 1 Scheffler’s dominating performance this year. The 28-year-old PGA Tour star has won six tournaments in 2024, including the Masters in April.
These wins earned Scheffler a staggering $23.3 million (£18.4 million), while appearances at other events earned $4.3 million (£3.4 million). sterling). In total, he raked in around $15m (£11.8m) more than Xander Schauffele, who is second on the earnings list this year.
This is all fantastic news for Scott, who is entitled to a percentage of Scheffler’s winnings. The exact nature of the contract between Scheffler and Scott is unknown, but typically the caddy receives 10% of a player’s prize money if he wins, 7% for a top-10 finish and 5% for a cut.

So Scott, 50, is estimated to have earned around $2.6 million (£2 million) this year, more than several former world No. 1s including Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Adam Scott. Scott’s earnings could increase further this weekend after Scheffler wins the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler has won so many prizes in 2024 that he now ranks fifth on the list of the PGA Tour’s highest-paying tournaments with $70.3 million (£55.3 million). If we just consider his earnings in the past six months, he would rank 72nd of all time.
Tiger Woods tops the list with earnings of over $120 million (£95 million). Woods is also the only player to have taken more than $ 100 million. Rory Makilra ranks second in 90.1 million dollars. The United States (71 million pounds), while Jim Furik (US $ 71.5 million) and Vija Singh ($ 71.3 million) are in third and fourth place respectively. Scott once caddied for Bubba Watson, guiding the American to two surprise Masters victories in 2012 and 2014. Eight years later, he guided another unknown American to a green jacket and helped Scheffler secure his first major victory by winning at Augusta in 2022, before repeating the feat in 2024.
