CROMWELL, Conn. — Cameron Young shot 7-under 28 on the front nine of his third round of the Travelers Championship, setting up possible history at TPC River Highlands.
Jim Furyk owns the low round in tournament and PGA TOUR history. He shot 58 at TPC River Highlands in the final round of the 2016 Travelers. Young could card the 13th sub-60 score in TOUR history. If he does, TPC River Highlands would be the only TOUR course that has yielded two scores of 59 or lower.
The highlight of the front side was Young’s eagle hole-out on the par-4 third. After birdies on the first two holes, Young’s approach at the third from 142 yards landed just short of the pin and dropped in for a deuce.

Young holed a 20-foot birdie on the next hole to move 5-under through four. Three straight pars kept it from a potentially historic front-nine, but Young added birdies at Nos. 8 and 9 to shoot 28. His approach at par-3 eighth settled just 14 inches from the pin and he capped off the opening side with a 32-foot birdie at the ninth.
