Tiger Woods‘ future in professional golf is once again under scrutiny as the 15-time major champion suggested he might have played his last U.S. Open.
Woods, 48, faced challenges at Pinehurst No. 2 in his fourth start of 2024, following a shift to a part-time schedule due to injuries from a 2021 car accident. These injuries have significantly reduced his playing time in recent years.

Since his recovery, Woods has participated in only 10 competitive events, with the recent U.S. Open marking his latest attempt.
Unfortunately, he failed to make the cut on Friday after starting with a four-over-par 74 and finishing the second round seven-over, missing the cut by two strokes.
This outcome led Woods to question his future in such competitions.
Woods was clear that his form hasn’t been good enough, and that is making him question his future in the sport.
“It’s one of those things where in order to win a golf tournament, you have to make the cut,” Woods expressed.
“I can’t win the tournament from where I’m at, so it certainly is frustrating. I thought I played well enough to be up there in contention.
“It just didn’t work out. As far as my last Open Championship or U.S. Open Championship, I don’t know what that is. It may or may not be.”
Speculation is growing that Woods might retire, especially after a series of performances that fall short of his previous achievements.
In February at the Genesis Invitational, he withdrew midway through the second round due to health issues. Despite these setbacks, Woods maintains his passion for the sport.
“I still love competing, I love playing, I love being a part of the game of golf,” Woods stated.
“This is the game of a lifetime and I don’t ever want to stop playing. I love being able to compete, I love the conversations across time… I don’t ever want to lose that.”
