MacIntyre, 27, carded a gutsy final-round 68 to see out a narrow one-shot victory over Ben Griffin to capture his maiden PGA Tour title at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday night. The Scot became just the sixth Scottish winner in the modern era of the PGA Tour. He did so in memorable fashion with his father Dougie acting as a stand-in caddie. The win not only saw him collect a first prize of $1.7m and vault up to 39th in the Official World Golf Rankings, but it sent him to the top of the Aon Swing 5 to book his place in this week’s $20m Memorial Tournament at famed Muirfield Village in Ohio. Nicklaus’ event is the seventh of eight signature events on the PGA Tour this season. But despite receiving an invite into one of the most coveted events of the PGA Tour season, which consists of nine of the top 10 players in the world, MacIntyre has decided to head home to Oban, Scotland, and party hard with his girlfriend, family and friends. When pressed by Balionis on the 18th green as to his plans for the next couple of weeks, MacIntyre said his father Dougie would be travelling home for a well deserved holiday. He then added he would heading back to Scotland to ‘have a hell of a party’. ‘A proper sesh’ is most certainly on the cards, according to Flushing It who first confirmed the news on social media on Monday.Flushing It confirmed the news on MondayFlushing It confirmed the news on MondayFlushing It tweeted: “As he promised in his presser, Robert MacIntyre has WD from the Memorial and is returning home to celebrate his Canadian Open win.
