The world of golf was shocked this morning when they found out that the world’s number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was arrested. According to the reports, due to a slight confusion with traffic flow rules, Scheffler made an attempt to drive past a police officer and enter Valhalla Golf Club without fully following their instructions.
Despite the fact that the incident did not warrant an arrest beyond a possible correction or ticket, police took the golfer into custody. Police officers allegedly yelled at Scheffler, forcefully pushed him against his car, and then restrained him with handcuffs during his arrest.
The Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections has confirmed Scheffler’s arrest on their website, complete with a mug shot of him in a prison jumpsuit. He joins an exclusive group of elite golfers, including John Daly and none other than Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods was arrested on DUI charges in Jupiter, Florida, during the early hours of May 29, 2017. Officers discovered him asleep in the driver’s seat of his Mercedes-Benz. He had parked the car just a short distance from his Florida residence. The toxicology report revealed that Woods’ bloodstream contained five drugs at the time of his arrest.
John Daly was arrested in October 2008 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The incident occurred when he appeared to be intoxicated outside a local Hooters restaurant. Moreover, Daly faced a six-month suspension from the PGA Tour due to various incidents, including an overnight stay in a Raleigh jail.
Scottie was charged with 2nd degree assault of a police officer, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic. However, despite this police incident, he will continue to golf at the PGA Championship.
