The 39-year-old has enjoyed remarkable success with Mercedes since joining in 2013, but has expressed frustration in recent years at seeing the team fall behind its main rivals.
Could Hamilton Have Kids?
Hamilton has had an eventful season in his final year with the Brackley-based team. Early season difficulties were quickly swept aside after an emotional win at Silverstone – his first in almost three years – before being quickly followed by victory in Belgium.
This success raised hopes that Hamilton and teammate George Russell could be competitive in the second half of the season, but they have been behind schedule since returning from the summer break. With six races left in the Mercedes cockpit, Hamilton is now beginning to think about his future, both on and off the track.
In an interview with The Times, the currently single Englishman admitted that he would like to start a family one day, but also acknowledged that this is virtually impossible if he wants to continue racing at the highest level.
Reflecting on having children, he said: I wouldn’t be able to do what I do at the level I do it now.
“One of my best friends just had a baby and I can see how crazy that is, and my nieces and nephew are just a pain.”
