Brian Hugggett: Golph pays tribute to the former Ryder Cup captain, and DP World Tour Stalware died at the age of 87

Brian Hugggett was the last captain of the Rider Cup British and Ireland. HUGGGETT occurred as a player in the rider cup, won 16 times in Europe in his career, and was the honorary member of the World Tour of the DP World Tour.

He was appointed an honorary life member of the DP World Tour in 2012. He took part in a motivational video used in Ryder Cup team rooms, but his death was announced before the final round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

DP World Tour DPS, Guy Kinning, tells Sky Sports as follows. He was an absolute gentleman and a wonderful person he had to face. He had an extraordinary career, but was clearly a captain in the British and Irish rider cup six times.

“We praise our great hero and what he did for the rider cup. We will never forget some of the messages he left with his players in the team room in recent years, delivered in his beautiful voice, and delivered through the film. We will all miss him terribly, but this is just an opportunity for all of us to pay tribute to one of our true legends.

At the time of his death, Brian Huggett was the oldest living Ryder Cup captain. Fellow Welshman and former Masters champion Ian Woosnam paid tribute to Huggett on social media, posting: “Sad to hear of the passing of Welsh legend Brian Huggett.”
