PGA of America explained that golf golf players will be able to participate in the American team in the Ryder Cup next year, where they will accept Europeans at Bethpage Black
PGA of America has confirmed that LIVE golf members could participate in the American Ryder Cup team, moving in a positive update for Brooks Coepka and Bryson Deschamba.
Questions have arisen regarding who will be entered into the Ryder Cup since LIV began in June 2022. For the 2023 tournament, only one LIV member was on the U.S. team, with Koepka joining the team following his PGA Championship win four months ago.
Koepka was able to compete because of his PGA of America membership, but Team USA officials reinstated his points for next year’s tournament in New York.
Additionally, Team LIV players will be eligible to compete in the PGA Championship. “To ensure that the PGA Championship continues to represent the best courses in golf and that the U.S. Ryder Cup team continues to have access to the best American players, the PGA has decided that LIV golfers will be eligible to play in both tournaments,” the PGA said in a statement.
“In the future, all LIV golfers will be eligible to play in the PGA Championship, and any American who earns a Ryder Cup spot through points or is added to Team USA as a captain will also be eligible to play.
This is consistent with LIV golfers who have competed in the PGA Championship the past two years. Brooks Koepka was a member of the Ryder Cup USA team last year.
The LIV roster includes many Ryder Cup players, including Koepka, DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson.
The American captain in 2025 Kigan Bradley had previously discovered that he would be open to include LIV players in his team and was ready to go to the tears league events to follow his players.
“I will have the 12 best players,” said Bradley after his appointment this summer. “So the PGA of America, they… we’re going to have the top 12 players, so they have to understand that if that’s their problem.
I know you have to be a member of the PGA to play in the Ryder Cup. That’s the only requirement you need. So we’ll make sure that if any of these guys that we think can make the team, we’ll make sure that they’re on the team.
This change led the PGA of America to add the LIV configuration to its “Approved Tours List.” This will mean that players competing on the Saudi Arabia-funded circuit will receive A3 membership and will be eligible to compete on both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
