F1 star Lewis Hamilton delivered an emotional message after Mercedes’ title win.
Hamilton is expected to leave his current team at the end of 2024 and join Ferrari after next season.
In perhaps the most shocking transfer news in Formula 1 history, Hamilton confirmed his decision in February this year despite winning six of his seven titles with Mercedes.
With Mercedes’ form dipping under the new rules, the Formula 1 champion clearly felt it was time for a change and will now drive for the sport’s most iconic team. Hamilton congratulates Mercedes junior team star
Despite a disappointing performance on track at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hamilton quickly found inspiration as he enjoyed success as a driver for the Junior Mercedes team.
The British star took to Instagram to praise Kenzo Craigie, who is in the Mercedes junior program, following his success in becoming the 2024 FIA Karting World Champion in the OK Junior category.
Born in the UK in 2010, Craigie rose to the top of the British karting scene in 2023 when he joined the Mercedes junior programme, which has produced some of the world’s top motorsport talent, including Esteban Ocon, George Russell and most recently Hamilton’s successor Kimi Antonelli.
The young star, who, like many others, idolizes Hamilton, shared his success on his social networks.
Hamilton commented on the post, saying “Great trip, well done,” and later shared it on his story. In his story, Hamilton expressed how it made him feel: “Seeing how my day did it. Well done.
If the star of the young Mercedes can follow in the footsteps of her hero, the future F1 can be in safe hands.
