When future Hall of Fame forwards Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins were going at it with the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks, you might have thought there was a blood vendetta between the two basketball stars. No friendship, no kind words, not even handshakes were to be had between the two all-time greats, simply because of how competitive that era (and especially those two in it) were.

But many years later, in an interview with the Showtime Basketball “All the Smoke” podcast, Wilkins opened up about their time together on the hardwood, how Bird used his trash talk as a psychological weapon against his foes, and just how hot Bird’s competitive fire burned in him in those years.
