But, it was an emotional time for the teenager who revealed a friend’s dad has passed away.
In his post-match interview, Littler said: “I have got to give a massive shout out to my friend Ellis. He lost his dad. I’ve known him since I was three or four.”
Littler was then led away in tears and stood with his face to the back of the stage leaving Wright in genuine concern for the teenager.
Later, Littler would address the situation on Instagram.
He shared a photo with Ellis on his stories, and spoke about why he was so upset.
He wrote: “Not looking for sympathy or anything I was just trying to say how my best mate has lost his dad at such a young age, I’ve known Ellis since we both was 3,4 and it’s been on my mind all week the strongest lad I know and just couldn’t get the job done as I would of liked.”
Fans on X were not happy with how Littler was treated, and took aim at the PDC.
One opined: “Was hard to watch and see Luke Littler break down on stage crying about his friends dad passing. Big shoutout for Peter Wright for looking after him.”
