Piers Morgan eats his words, but Simone Biles’ fans aren’t happy with his public apology.

Piers Morgan received backlash for his comments after Simone Biles exit at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

Controversial British commentator Piers Morgan made a public apology…

What did Piers Morgan say about Simone Biles?
Morgan posted his apology after Biles led Team USA to an Olympic victory, earning a total score of 171.296, leaving Italy and Brazil far behind.

This triumphant moment is a stark contrast to three years ago when Biles faced significant criticism for stepping back from the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.

In 2021, Biles battled the “twisties” and made the courageous decision to prioritize her well-being.

However, her decision was met with harsh criticism from some fans and notably from Piers Morgan.

The English broadcaster criticized Biles in an op-ed for the Daily Mail, stating, “Sorry Simone Biles, but there’s nothing heroic or brave about quitting because you’re not having ‘fun’ – you let down your team-mates, your fans, and your country.”

He further remarked, “Simone Biles calls herself the Greatest of All Time – but no GOAT would quit on their teammates like that.”

Piers Morgan surrenders to Simone Biles’ greatness
Fast forward to now, and Biles has once again proven her legendary status by capturing gold in the all-around finals in Paris.

In light of this, Morgan issued a public apology on X, stating, “I was too harsh on you in 2021 when you quit the team finals. You’re a great champion, and have since proved me wrong in the best possible way – by letting your supreme talent do the talking.”

Despite Morgan’s attempt to make amends, many of Biles’ fans are not ready to let him off the hook.

Fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction, with one user commenting, “A LITTLE BIT OF HUMILITY SIR BECAUSE YOU ALWAYS DEHUMANIZE.”

Fans also pointed out that Morgan did not directly say “sorry” to Biles.

One user highlighted this issue, saying, “I love how Piers is the self-proclaimed auditor of success and failure!”

Another fan questioned Morgan’s sincerity, asking, “What’s the point in tweeting if you don’t read the comments or do you not have the guts to face it head-on, you f**king bully?”

While some of Morgan’s fans praised him for admitting he was wrong, they were in the minority.
