An Italian tennis star has left fans of the sport in disbelief after delivering shock news surrounding her future in the game.
Mystery surrounds the retirement of Italian tennis star Camila Giorgi.
The 32-year-old has not officially announced her retirement from tennis, but was included in the retired players’ list published by Italy’s tennis federation, The Sun reports.
Across her career, she competed in all four Grand Slams, with her highest finish being a quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2018.
Giorgi’s highest singles ranking was 26 which she achieved in the same year she reached the Wimbledon quarters.
In 2021 she also reached the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics.
In March, she competed at the Miami Open, where she lost to world No1 Iga Swiatek and made no comments saying she may retire.
She also posted a selfie on her Instagram on Wednesday, again, with no hint that she would soon be retiring.
It could be that Giorgi has quit the day job to follow what was until now her side hustle.
She has often shared pictures of her modelling with her Instagram followers and it could be that she has found a new calling.
The Italian native boasts 724,000 followers on her Instagram page.

Giorgi began playing tennis when she was five and was said by Bild to want a career as a fashion designer or writer, like her when she called time on her career.
Her brother, Amadeus, was a footballer and similarly retired to little fuss five years ago.
