Come 2024, golf fans will be looking forward to Monday and Tuesday night.
After announcing their new company TMRW Sports in August 2022, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy also introduced TGL, a “new tech-infused league” that will partner with the PGA Tour.
Six teams of three PGA Tour players will compete in 15 regular season Monday night matches, followed by semifinals and finals matches, starting Jan. 2024. The matches will be played at a tech-infused, short-game complex. Fans will be able to see every shot live over a 2-hour broadcast on primetime television.
But who’s playing?
All 24 players have now been announced.
Here are the players committed to competing in the TGL starting in 2024.

Tiger Woods

“TGL is the next evolution within professional golf, and I am committed to helping lead it into the future. Embracing technology to create this unique environment gives us the ability to move our sport into primetime on a consistent basis alongside so many of sports’ biggest events,” Woods said.
“As a big sports fan myself, I’m excited about blending golf with technology and team elements common in other sports. We all know what it’s like to be in a football stadium or a basketball arena where you can watch every play, every minute of action unfold right in front of you. It’s something that inherently isn’t possible in traditional golf — and an aspect of TGL that will set it apart and appeal to a new generation of fans.”

“I have the utmost respect for the game of golf, and the TGL, while rooted in the traditions of the game, is taking a bold step into the increasingly tech-fueled future of sports,” McIlroy said. “TGL will tap into the appeal of team golf within an exciting, fan-friendly environment, comparable to sitting courtside at an NBA game. TGL will widen the appeal of golf to younger and more diverse fans and serve as another avenue to introduce people to the game I love.”

“While teeing it up with the world’s best has been a highlight of my career so far, this opportunity to compete in TGL is taking that experience to a whole other level. TGL combines world-class players in a team format within an arena environment for a global television audience. With a formula like that, it will create another platform for fans, especially young fans, to see our sport shine on a new stage,” said Fitzpatrick.

“As I said after doing the interview with CBS Sports during the Farmers Insurance Open, I believe there is an opportunity to push the envelope for golf fans’ viewing experience,” said Homa. “TGL is another example of how we can appeal to younger sports fans and TGL’s progressive approach with its use of technology will further elevate how sports fans engage with golf. I love the concept of TGL helping to broaden the appeal of the game we love to a wider spectrum of sports fans. From the first time I heard about it, I knew it was for me.”

“During my amateur and collegiate golf career, I loved team play and the added energy it brought to my game – especially in match play. That has only been elevated with the opportunities I have had to represent the U.S. in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, and I am looking forward to being a part of a TGL team next year as well,” said Morikawa. “Beyond that, I think the design of TGL to provide sports fans the world’s best in a weekly, primetime golf competition, from start-to-end in only two hours, will appeal to a broader spectrum of casual golf fans and introduce our sport to younger fans.”

“I have always enjoyed team and match-play formats, dating back to my days playing for the Gators. Being a part of a TGL team and competing in this format on a regular basis next year will hopefully play to my strengths,” said Horschel. “Competing in primetime in front of an audience will be a perfect environment for me as a passionate player who loves to feed off energy from the fans. I’m excited to support this type of progressive thinking for the game.”

“TGL’s approach of merging technology and golf is the innovative thinking that I believe will help the sport evolve and continue to appeal to a broader base of fans. And my team experiences in the Ryder Cup have always been highlights of my career, so layering in the team format with TGL was a big motivator for me getting involved,” said Rose.
