Charlie Woods and Jacob Immelman tee off at junior event, 16 years after their dads Tiger and Trevor’s Sunday duel at 2008 Masters

Charlie Woods and Jacob Immelman were paired together for the first round of the 2024 Adam Scott Junior Championship on Wednesday, May 29. The sons of star golfers teed off at this week’s junior golf event at The Falls Club of Palm Beach in Florida.

Interestingly, 16 years ago in 2008, their fathers, Tiger Woods and Trevor Immelman played together at the Masters, where the latter clinched his maiden Major title. The young generation follows in their father’s footsteps by participating in junior events.

The 2024 Adam Scott Junior Championship began its inaugural round on Wednesday, May 29. At the end of 18 holes, Charlie Woods settled in a tie for 27th place, while Jacob Immelman took the T39 spot.

Both had a decent start in the tournament. Charlie began the game with two consecutive bogeys but managed to shoot a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole. He added another birdie on the eighth, followed by a double bogey on the ninth. He finished with two more birdies on the back nine, scoring 1-over par 73.

Meanwhile, Jacob started the game with a birdie on the first hole but struggled on the subsequent holes. He carded three bogeys, a double bogey, and the initial birdie to score +4.

Back in 2008, in the final round of the Masters, Tiger Woods shot 72, while Trevor Immelman carded 75. However, Immelman was in the lead and registered a three-stroke victory over Woods, earning $1.3 million in prize money.

As of 2024, Tiger Woods last competed at the PGA Championship but did not make the cut. He will next compete at the US Open in Pinehurst No.2 Golf Course, which is scheduled to take place from June 13 to 16. Meanwhile, Trevor Immelman has retired from professional golf and ventured into television commentary.

The second round of the 2024 Adam Scott Junior Championship is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, and again, Charlie Woods and Jacob Immelman will pair up together to start the game on the first tee hole. They will be joined by Jack McGrory to start the game at 8:20 a.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Jackson Bryce, Lucas Politano, and Cameron Kuchar will take the inaugural shot on the first tee at 7:30 a.m. ET, while Evyn Cannon, Emma McKoan, and Jessalyn Young tee off at 7:33 a.m. ET on the tenth hole.

Following the first round, Hampton Beebe took the lead with a score of under 7, followed by Cameron Kuchar, who tied with Reed Greyserman, Miles Kuhl, and Tanner Cadieux. Pennson Badgett settled in sixth place, followed by Lucas Politano, Riura Matsui, Gabriel Hull, Ryan Nicholson, Carson Baez, and Elijah Zamarron, who tied for seventh place. It will have its finale on May 31.
