Bryson DeChambeau stunned fans with a class act after his devastating PGA Championship defeat at the weekend.
The 30-year-old golfer came up just short of victory, finishing one stroke behind winner Xander Schauffele, who clinched his first major win with a nail-biting victory at Valhalla. DeChambeau had faced boos from the crowd heading into the tournament due to his switch to LIV Golf in 2022, but he managed to win back many hearts not only with a monster performance on the course, but also with a couple of admirable actions off it.
As he left the podium on Sunday, the American put his agony aside and instead greeted a group of fans waiting for him in the car park. Few could’ve complained if he’d made a swift exit out of sight of the cameras, but DeChambeau showed a touch of a class by sticking around, even if it was only for a minute or so.
He signed a few autographs and exchanged friendly words before heading off back to the clubhouse to process the agonising manner of his defeat. It was a simple, small act of kindness, but one that demonstrated his class, and not for the first time either.

Earlier in the day, during a tension-filled final round, DeChambeau tossed his ball to a young fan at the side of the path while walking to the 10th hole. However, a man snatched the ball and tried to run away with it, reports the Express.
DeChambeau immediately confronted the man, demanding in no uncertain terms: “Hey, hey hey! Give that ball back!” A brief exchange followed before the fan reluctantly complied, and handed the ball to the youngster.
The act earned praise from CBS commentator Jim Nantz, who affirmed: “That’s class. DeChambeau comes over to give him a nod, a congratulatory handshake.”
The incident changed many fans’ perception of DeChambeau. One social media user weighed in: “Many people seem to be changing their opinion of him lately. Actions like this just make you smile and wish much success for the guy. He is really good for the game right now”.
DeChambeau won plenty of fans back with his display on and off the course over the weekend (
Another chimed in: “This changes my opinion of Bryson. Talented golfer playing on a circus golf tour but a stand-up guy. Nice to see the adult who snatched the ball from the kid get called out.”
Even with his divisive shift to LIV, DeChambeau still holds sway among golf enthusiasts, with his social media accounts experiencing a boom in recent times. His YouTube currently boasts over 600,000 followers, while his TikTok sits comfortably above 400,000 fans.
