Lewis Hamilton excited about final year at Mercedes before Ferrari takeover

Ferrari announces two key Mercedes figures – engineer – Loic Serra and director Arrival of Jerome d’Ambrosio – later this year. 1 will become Head of Performance Engineering for Ferrari Platforms.

He previously worked at Michelin and BMW-Sauber.

Former driver D’Ambrosio drove 20 times in F1 between 2011 and 2012 and was Toto Wolff’s right-hand man at Mercedes.

He joins as assistant team principal, working alongside team boss Fred Vasseur and head of Ferrari’s driver academy, which includes the likes of British teenager Ollie Bearman.

A statement from Ferrari read: Scuderia Ferrari HP is pleased to announce the further strengthening of the team with the arrival of Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio from the Mercedes AMG F1 team.

Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio will begin pairing both with Scuderia Ferrari HP on October 1st.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton will replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari next year and join Leclerc at Maranello.

Hamilton has not won racing from December 2021 following Mercedes’ rapid decline in form since the introduction of the new rules in 2022.

The 39-year-old has driven for Mercedes since 2013 and won six of his seven world championships with the Silver Arrows.

He made his McLaren debut in 2007 and won his first world championship a year later.

However, Wolff has not yet decided who he wants to replace Hamilton next year.
Kia Sainz, Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli have been linked with joining George Russell in 2025.
