Born on December 31, 1991 in Macerata, Italy; Camila Giorgi is an Italian tennis professional renowned for her fierce playing style and formidable groundstrokes.
After turning professional in 2006, Giorgi participated in her first WTA event at the Barcelona Ladies Open three years later. In Katowice, Poland she clinched her inaugural ITF singles title during 2011 and subsequently advanced to the quarterfinals of the Baku Cup- a remarkable achievement as it marked her première WTA main draw quarterfinal appearance that same year.
During 2013, Giorgi experienced a significant accomplishment at Wimbledon. She overpowered three top-20 players – Caroline Wozniacki, Nadia Petrova and Roberta Vinci – en route to reaching the fourth round of the tournament. That same year she also made it to the US Open’s fourth round where she defeated former world No.1 player Caroline Garcia during her journey there.
In July 2018, Giorgi achieved her highest ranking in the world by reaching No.26. Throughout her career, she has secured two WTA singles titles – one at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2015 and another at Linz in 2018- as well as seven ITF singles titles.
Giorgi played for Italy during the Fed Cup and participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics, achieving a third-round spot in singles.
