The 27-year-old teamed up with Tiger Woods for a practice round at Augusta on Monday after the five-time Masters winner left one on onlooker less than impressed at the rangeTiger Woods and Will ZalatorisTiger Woods managed to pip Will ZalatorisBy Neil McLeman, Tiger Woods eclipsed playing partner Will Zalatoris in their morning practice round at Augusta National. The five-time time champion, 48, played the back nine on Monday morning alongside the 2021 Masters runner-up. The American superstar, who nearly lost a leg in a 2021 car accident has played only one full round on the PGA Tour this season at the Genesis Invitational before withdrawing with flu.But Zalatoris said: “He played great today. He outdrove me a couple times so there was some chirping going on. He looks great. He’s moving as well as he can be. With everything he’s gone through, it’s pretty amazing to see how good he’s swinging it.”That verdict is better than the one a Masters security guard had watching Woods from the range on Monday morning. The 15-time major winner stunned fans by arriving at 8am ET sharp, an earlier start than in recent years.READ MORE: Tiger Woods changes Masters habit for first time in years but still leaves security guard concernedREAD MORE: Mind-blowing price of food and drink at Masters 2024 including pimento cheese sandwiches and beersBut despite arriving the earliest the staff member, whose first shift was back in 2016, has ever seen him, Woods failed to impress. “He looked like he was 48 years old.,” he said. “He looked old and slow. I wouldn’t bet on him.”Woods is of course recovering from ankle fusion surgery, completing four days of PGA Tour tournament action just once within the last 14 months. Prior to that and the 2021 car crash, he underwent back surgery in 2017. That back injury is the same one that forced Zalatoris out of the Masters last year.Asked following the round if Woods shared any injury advice, Zalatoris said: “You know, it’s kind of more of just hey, how you feeling? You feel this? You feel that? The patience game is really hard. Obviously he had gone through way more than what I had gone through.
