The San Francisco 49ers enter the 2024 NFL draft with an abundance of selections.San Francisco could use some of those picks in packages to move up in trades throughout the selection process.The 49ers probably will not make a large jump from No. 31 in the first round, but if they like a player who is still available around the No.25-27 point, they could use some of their late-round picks to jump a few teams.The second round could also be a trade target for the 49ers if someone they value drops further than expected. They might get better value out of their late-round selections with cheaper price tags in the second round.The No. 26 overall pick could be an ideal trade target of the 49ers for a few reasons.The Niners will be in the market for offensive linemen and a run on the second tier of interior players could happen in the latter parts of the first round.A move up to No. 26 in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would put the 49ers in front of the Arizona Cardinals at No. 27.Arizona may not seem like a threat in the NFC West right now, but if it is in the market for offensive linemen as well, the 49ers could jump its divisional foe.San Francisco’s abundance of late-round picks are intriguing in a trade package, but only one selection in the second and third rounds makes it difficult for it to make a massive jump up the draft order.A move up to land someone like Duke’s Graham Barton at No. 26 would likely involve one or two of the 49ers’ fourth-round picks.Proposed Trade: 49ers trade Nos. 31, 124 and 132 picks to Tampa Bay for No. 26 pickThe 49ers could wait a few more picks until No. 28 to move up in a potential deal with the Buffalo Bills.A three-spot move would come with a cheaper cost than the proposed five-spot jump in a potential trade with Tampa Bay.A move up to No. 28 is significant because it would put the 49ers ahead of the Detroit Lions, who unlike the Cardinals, should worry the 49ers because of their position atop the NFC North.Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton and Barton could be the targets of the move up if the 49ers believe both offensive linemen will not be available at No. 31.Buffalo picks at Nos. 28 and 60, but then it has a 60-pick break to the fourth round. The 49ers could move their third-round pick in a selection swap and not add any other picks to the deal.Proposed Trade: 49ers trade Nos. 31 and 94 picks to Buffalo for No. 28 pickBig Moves Comes at Start of Second RoundThe asking price in a trade for a second-round pick is significantly lower than in a deal for a first-round selection.That could benefit the 49ers if they want to move up into the first part of Day 2 to take a player who unexpectedly fell to the second round.The 49ers can package a handful of their Day 3 selections to move up and also keep their own second-round selection.The Houston Texans, who do have a pick in the fifth or sixth rounds, could be the target at either No. 42 with the pick they acquired from the Minnesota Vikings.Houston also picks at No. 59 so it would not completely lose out on a second-round deal with the 49ers.Wide receiver could be the position the 49ers target with a move up early in the second round. They need to prepare for a potential Brandon Aiyuk departure by bringing in a young player behind Deebo Samuel, Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.
