According to Golfweek’s Adam Schupak, Tiger Woods has officially enrolled for the 2024 Masters as reported on Thursday.
This year’s tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia will feature a total of 85 players, including some notable past champions like Woods, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth. The event is scheduled to take place from April 11-14.
Having secured 15 major titles and five Masters wins, Woods has only competed once in professional golf this year at the Genesis Invitational. Unfortunately, he withdrew from the second round after six holes due to an illness. In February of this year however, Woods had a single-car accident that resulted in severe injuries to his right leg – it was almost necessary for amputation! Due its severity understandablely made sparing appearances on tour ever since given how serious it was especially considering he’s now aged 48 years old.
In 2022, he competed in the Masters, PGA Championship and Open Championship; however, his participation was limited to just the Masters tournament in 2023 where he withdrew during the third round.
Despite previous uncertainty, Woods seems determined to participate in the Masters. His dedicated fans are eagerly anticipating his return to a golf course where he has previously delivered outstanding performances; notably setting an impressive then-course record (18-under) at just 21 years old during the 1997 tournament.
