During an interview with ESPN, Jon Rahm disclosed that he has not had any communication with Tiger Woods since revealing his departure to LIV Golf.
The current champion of the Masters at Augusta mentioned informing Rory McIlroy and Woods about his decision.
Their reactions were entirely opposite to each other.
In one minute, can Jon Rahm make how many of his 20 attempts at putting? This is the challenge he faces spectacularly.
“I have received support from Rory both publicly and privately for my decision,” Rahm disclosed to ESPN.
“Was I supported by Tiger Woods? Not quite. Despite texting him and those involved in my signing, he didn’t appear to show much interest. When communicating with him about it, I acknowledged that the decision was a personal one and left it at that.
Presumably occupied with his own responsibilities, he appeared too preoccupied for substantive conversation.”
WHAT CAUSED RAHM TO ALTER HIS PERSPECTIVE?
Rahmalso elaborated on the reasons that prompted him to change his mind about accepting LIV Golf’s offer.
“When the PGA Tour and the PIF, who manages the LIV Tour, reached a potential agreement to collaborate in future endeavors, it acted as an eye-opener for me.
Perhaps I’ve been too narrow-minded about this subject matter and deserve to explore these possibilities.
As a professional athlete, it’s imperative that I consider all alternatives available; hence why I decided to give myself that chance,” he concluded.
“Golf couldn’t get any higher than The PGA Tour. However, the compensation of golfers has undergone a significant transformation; one that I have personally been an integral part of.
To put it simply, playing the same sport and having more leisure time now comes with monetary benefits for me. While opinions may vary, this change appears to be great from my perspective.”
